My 15 mins of fame!

Article about Perfectly Unique Photography in the Mid Sussex Times

Mid Sussex Times

Just after I achieved my accreditation – there be another post on that shortly! – I sent an email to our local newspaper to see if they would be interested in my story. The weeks went by and one day I received an email from a lovely journalist Jasmin who asked if she could do a ‘short’ feature on me and my business. I was over the moon as I had been struggling to get the word out about what I do. Jasmin sent me some questions and I replied to them by email and at the time I thought there were a lot of questions for a short feature but assumed she was just being extra thorough.

Publication Day

Earlier this week I got an email from my husband (we do also talk!) saying that he had spotted me the online. If you have read the article you will know by now that I had a bit of a problem with my heart stopping a few times in 2016 and whilst Jasmin had been writing her article I had become a bit worried that it would be all about my surviving quite a dramatic health issue – however when I read it I was so relieved to see that it was a very balanced article – a bit about my health, a bit about my accreditation, a bit about my health and finishing with a bit about how I carry out photoshoots.

Reading the article online didn’t really give me a scale of how much of the newspaper the feature would take up so I was bowled over when I saw a double page spread! My kids were also super excited that they were in the paper too and copies were duly sent into school with them on Thursday. To make my week even better I also heard that the Ruby and Tayo, two of the children whose photos had also been printed, and found out that they had also been equally excited to seem themselves in the paper too!

As word got out about the article I found that it had been shared by my wonderful family and friends on nearly every platform you can imagine and I received so many positive comments and good wishes which were very welcome.

Finally the nicest comments I saw on Facebook was on the mid Sussex times’ page – previous customers had written some very supportive and positive comments – and to me that is the best thing – although my business is very small at the moment its fantastic to know that those families and organisations who helped me build up my portfolio value and treasure the memories we captured.
